NON HEALING WOUND DORSUM FOOT - POST TRAUMATIC

A gentleman in his late 30's presented with a non healing wound 5 months after injury, he had three settings of failed skin graftings elsewhere. he was managed in a single stage of shaving and skin grafting. his wounds healed uneventfully. His pictures are shown below.

PATIENT AND RELATIVES WERE HAPPY WITH THE OUTCOME

6 MONTHS AFTER SKIN GRAFTING HE PRESENTED WITH AN ACUTE ONSET OF PARESTHESIA AND FOOT DROP OF THE LEFT FOOT OF ONE DAY DURATION. HE IS UNDER EVALUATION

INFECTIONS, DIABETIC FOOT, NON HEALING WOUNDS AND LIMB SALVAGE

Diabetic foot is actually the result of many changes in the physiology of the foot resulting from Peripheral Neuropathy, Peripheral vascular Disease, Microangiopathy. Presence of High sugar levels, Absence of protective sensation, Changes in Bony architecture of the foot. Neglecting Trivial trauma to the foot. etc. With help of current technology and advances it is possible to salvage many of these.
